I have been busy over the last several months with shows in NYC and Washington, DC, group shows at Yes Gallery in Brooklyn, NY http://yesgalleryyes.com/ The Invisible Dog Art Center, Brooklyn, NY http://theinvisibledog.org/ In Rivers Gallery, Greenpoint, NY http://inrivers.tumblr.com/ The Northside Open Studios exhibition at THE END Gallery space, Greenpoint, NY http://www.northsideopenstudios.org/register-now/ A.I.R Gallery, Dumbo, NY, wish you were here 10 show, http://www.airgallery.org/ and the McLean Project for the Arts, Washington DC, Surrealism show http://www.mpaart.org/ (my work The Twins was previewed in the Washington Post from this show).

Earlier this year I exhibitied my solo show The Company of Fools at Helen Gory Gallery, 8 large scale drawings and a large number of watercolours. Ashley Crawford, who is an Australian art critic/writer wrote the catalogue intro, which you can read here  http://www.helengory.com/press/Lorene%20Taurerewa/Lorene%20Taurerewa%20Catalogue%20essay%20Ashley%20Crawford%202011.pdf
A large number of the works were sold from the show and the National Gallery of Victoria bought a selection of water colours for their collection. Gerard Vaughan the National Gallery director and curators attended the opening, unfortunately, I couldn't make it, but was very happy with the outcome of the show. An article is out this coming September 2011 about the show in Australia Art Monthly. And, the James Wallace Trust in New Zealand purchased work from the show for their collection.
Oh, I almost forgot to say I had a small show of large drawings and watercolors with Suite Gallery in New Zealand and after a year of representation by them, I made the decision to move on. Also, Pataka Museum purchased a large watercolor from the Suite show, which a number of people tell me now hangs in their main gallery.
You can read the article WHAT NOW Lorene Taurerewa an interview by Ashley Crawford for Australian Art Collector http://www.helengory.com/press/Lorene%20Taurerewa/Lorene%20Taurerewa%20AAC%20Oct%20Dec%202010%20pg%20108%20109.pdf which came out earlier this year and talks a bit about the dark side of the New Zealand psyche!! this was in reference to the Unnerved exhibition at the Queensland Art Gallery, which I participated in along with a number of NZ artists.
I am currently working in the studio drawing very large scale for 2 solo shows and a group show coming up later this year, in NYC and Australia.
